The UK’s *Almost* Mediterranean Town…

Things to do in St Ives, Cornwall
Visit the Beach
St Ives boasts some of the clearest waters in the UK along with beautiful white sands that really encapsulate that 'holiday abroad' feeling. Two beaches I'd like to highlight are Porthminster (above) and Porthmeor. Both are walking distance from the town and harbour and also have facilities on the beach such as toilets and Food.
2. Stroll the cobbled streets
The town offers a large range of quirky shops and food, definitely a must if you are travelling to St Ives. The cobbled aesthetic really encapsulates the beauty of the town and sets it aside from others. It's a good place to do some shopping and hunt for souvenirs!
3. Harbour excursions
There are several excursions available around the harbour, one I recommend is the speedboat ride if you're a thrill seeker, otherwise there are also 'sea safari's' that will take you out to see the wildlife that inhabits the Cornish coastline including a stop off at seal island!
4. Learn to surf
Porthmeor Beach is an ideal surf beach which produces some of the larger swells in the st Ives area. If you are a keen surfer or interested in learning then I'd recommend St Ives surf school as they offer guided surf lessons along with surfboards to hire. If you're more interested in paddle boarding or kayaking then you're in luck as they cater for that too!
Places to Eat and Drink
St Ives Bakery
The Cruffin speaks for itself! Just look at it! The quality and range of baked goods is phenomenal and it's really worth trying one of the cruffins if they haven't sold out already! Muffin shaped croissant filled with jam and custard - what is not to love. They have a wide range or breads, pastries and some traditional pasty's too.
2. The Balcony Bar & Kitchen
The Balcony has panoramic views of the harbour from above and serves a nice range of food to accommodate everyone. A lovely place to stop for a drink while watching the boats pass by.
3. The Cornish Pasty shop
I couldn't make this list without including a traditional Cornish pasty shop. There is quite a few in St Ives but I've picked 'The Cornish Pasty shop', situated along the harbour, as it demonstrates how much the traditional pasty has evolved into a wide variety of new pasty options. Pick one that catches your eye and enjoy on the harbourside!
4. Flapjackery
If you are looking for a sweet treat in the town then look no further. As a flapjack lover I couldn't resist trying one of these for myself as the options are endless. The yoghurt and blackcurrant one was great but be adventurous and try one that tempts you!
